SPEECH BY USHA NAGPAL, NISSAN/RENAULT GENERAL MANAGER DURING THE OFFICIAL UNVEILING OF DT DOBIE NISSAN CHALLENGE 2012

Good afternoon and thank you all for joining us here at DT Dobie Showroom for this important event.
This afternoon, we are having an important event. Nissan Challenge is a new campaign in Kenya never done before and we believe we are the first motor company, not only in East Africa but also in Sub-Sahara African Motor industry. And we are honoured to have all of you here so that you can be part of this very important event
Ladies and Gentlemen, today we are flagging off the DT Dobie Nissan Challenge 2012, a relay that will showcase our range of business pickup across the 25 counties. Just to mention a few, of the 25 counties the journey we touch, which are Mombasa, Nairobi, Meru, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Nakuru, Kisumu, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Tran Nzoia and finally Turkana.
DT Dobie Nissan Challenge 2012 is a countrywide Journey to Showcase our “Seriously Kenyan” Nissan range of pickups and their performance on our Kenyan terrain as well as interacting with our existing and prospective Nissan customers. At the same time the convoy will make stop-overs, to educate the general public on the road safety for drivers and pedestrians as well.
During this journey we will demostrate the ability of the Nissan pick-up toughness and reliability. At the stop over’s our sales and marketing team will be there to assist customers on acquiring the right vehicle and information. Also it will assist the general public to identify with our range of products in counties that we are not present. And will be achieved through a one on one marketing element. The aim of this communication element is not just to see but feel and experience the difference with the Nissan range of pickups, hence leaving an indelible mark in the minds of our enthusiasts and customers.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the relay will last for six days, and it will debut in Mombasa on 5th of February and adjourn in Lodwar on 10th of February. It will cover 2500km and all vehicles will be loaded with 1000kilogram of relief food, which we will be loaded and carried from Mombasa to Lodwar. Again this will be a way to demonstrate to our customers that our pickups are “Seriously Kenyan proven cars” as they have been proven to be tough, durable and reliable and have capability to carry 800 kg -1200 kg load….Ideal for the businessmen, farmers or individual.
At this juncture, I would like to highlight a few features of the five Nissan vehicles that will cover 2500km journey and their relevant to regions
Day 1 Journey – Using our Nissan Hardbody NP300 – Hardbody D/Cabin
Nissan NP300 – Atoti will cover the distance from Mombasa to Nairobi. This vehicle is equipped with a high output & efficient 2.5L common rail turbo diesel engine and a host of other performance and design upgrades, which make it the most fuel-efficient turbo diesel in the 1-ton pickup segment. Its comfortable high spec’d Double Cabin, is ideal for self-employed, sole traders typically working in remote locations, construction sites and landscaping projects or in agriculture………Excellent on all terrains.
Day 2 – Nissan Hardbody 1 Ton PickUp 2.7 Litre (Haichoki)
The vehicle will pass through Nairobi via Meru. Nissan Hardbody 1 Ton pickup has an impressive load carrying ability, with re-enforced Chassis & double plated load-bed hence the strength and the durability. This vehicle has stood tall amongst its peers for sheer.
The One Ton pickups can run for thousands kilometres, even in the toughest operating environment for affordable maintenance bills, not forgetting it has the good high ground clearance – used by mainly Manufacturing companies, businessman and farmers. In Meru we would like to woo Miraa traders, tradesmen and wholesalers with this vehicle.
Day 3 – Nissan NP200 ¾ ton Pick-up 1600 c.c. (Chapakazi,)
The vehicle will cover Nyahururu via Nakuru to Kisiii. The NP200 ranges of vehicles are defined by their fusion of practicality and performance, underlying strength and explicit style and very spacious & comfortable front cabin (you feel you are in a saloon) Its loading space which is ¾ ton carrying load of 800 kg appeals to manufacturing, businessmen & farmers as well as younger buyers who necessary don’t require one ton pick-up.
Day 4 – Nissan Navara Double Cabin – 2.5 litre (Success)
The Navara will cover Kisii- Kisumu Via Kakamega – Eldoret. Nissan’s Navara Double Cab is one of the finest pickup truck in the market. One of the features, which distinguish the Navara from our competitors’ vehicles – A real Macho vehicle, comfortable and very spacious 2.5 litre Diesel Turbo engine, fully loaded with all safety features. It is an ideal vehicle for Tradesmen, construction workers, lifeguards and many others alike, who would like huge load space, hemmed in by half-meter high sidewalls.
During the journey inn Eldoret the event will be marked through a partnership agreement signing between El Auto Motors and DT Dobie. The dealership will serve the entire North Rift region and parts of Western Kenya, as we had mentioned during one of our recent launches we continue increasing our dealer network countrywide
Heavy Duty Pickup – 1 Ton pick up (Champion)
The vehicle will pass through Kitale to Lodwar, this Heavy duty pick-up the “Champions Choice” highly duration and reliable Heavy duty pick up, its rugged and its superior off-road performance with a Diesel engine of 4.2 litre, the Patrol Pickup has loads of the “never-say-die” attitude and its wide wheel track that gives extra stability while driving & Equipped with L.S.D. for better off road traction at all times – Vehicles are used mainly by
Ladies and Gentlemen, the 1000 kilograms of relief food we are transporting shall be donated to Nasiger Primary school, in Lodwar, to support the community due to the current drought challenge.
Our Part of the crew is a young Kenyan driver, Robert Kunga (Bobby) a passionate motor blogger with aspirations to become a rally driver. Nissan choice of the driver is to reach out to the youthful generation who can relate with the Nissan range of vehicles. Bobby will be assisted by a motor journalist during this journey
